ATM/Debit Card FAQs
Does my ATM/Debit Card have an expiration date?
SNB ATM cards do not expire. Typically, the expiration date for Debit Cards is five years from the original order date. Prior to your card expiring, you will automatically receive a new card in the mail approximately three weeks before the expiration date. Your original card number and PIN number will remain the same.
How do I activate my ATM/Debit card?
When you receive your card, there will be a sticker with a phone number and instructions for activating located on the card. You must call from a phone number that we have on record for you in order for the card to be activated.
May I customize my PIN?
You will create your own unique PIN when you activate your card. You may change your PIN at any time by calling the activation number, (866) 633-5293, or at any of our ATMs. When using the ATM, insert your card into the machine and follow the onscreen prompts. If you do not know your original PIN, call us and we will be happy to assist you.
What should I do if my card is declined?
There are several reasons an ATM/Debit Card might be declined, such as: the card is not activated, funds are not available, the card is expired, the card is damaged, or fraudulent activity is suspected on card. Please call us if you need assistance in determining why your card was declined.
Is there a difference between signing and using my PIN to authorize a transaction?
There is no difference in the way funds are taken out of your account if you use a PIN (debit) or sign a receipt (credit).
What fees are assessed when I use my ATM/Debit card?
If you use your ATM/Debit card to withdraw funds at an SNB ATM, you will not be charged any fees. If you use your card at a foreign (other financial institution’s) machine, you will be subject to their applicable fees. SNB does not charge its customers a fee when you use your SNB card at a foreign machine. There are no fees assessed from SNB when using your debit card for a point of sale (POS) purchase.
How can I dispute a charge on my ATM/Debit card?
If you discover an unauthorized charge on your account via your ATM/Debit card, call us immediately. We work with you to address this situation.
How can I report a lost or stolen ATM/Debit card?
Are there limits to how much I can withdraw from an ATM?
For security reasons, the daily ATM withdrawal limit is $250 per day, per card. At your request, this limit may be temporarily adjusted.
Is there a daily spending limit for my SNB Debit card?
For security reasons, the daily (per card) point of sale transaction limit is $2,500. If you know that you will be making a substantial purchase, simply call us or stop by one of our branch locations and we can temporarily adjust your limit.
Will my ATM/Debit card work while I’m traveling?
Please notify us if you will be traveling outside of the area (domestically or internationally). We will note your travel plans on your account to reduce the likelihood of declined transactions. If traveling to a foreign country, it is best to ensure you have our Visa-branded SNB Debit Card, as standard ATM cards may not function in the country you are visiting.
What do I do if the ATM did not give me back my card?
If an ATM does not return your card, contact the owner of that machine.
What is Verified by Visa (VBV) 3D Secure?
3D Secure is a free service facilitated by Visa that lets you transact online securely using your SNB Debit Card. This service is only available on 3D Secure (3DS) merchant sites. VBV uses password protection during an internet purchase to authenticate the customer as an added fraud protection.
What are the benefits of 3D Secure?
This provides a sense of security and prevents fraudsters from making a purchase with stolen card details. Through the use of the One-Time Password (OTP) to verify the card holder, it makes online shopping safer and more secure.
How does 3D Secure protect me?
3DS provides an added layer of security by prompting you for a OTP when you make an online purchase. This helps to protect against online fraud by verifying that the customer making the online purchase is the rightful owner of the debit card.
How do I register for 3D Secure?
Registration is not required. This free feature is automatically enabled on your card. Please ensure that you have updated your latest mobile phone number with us, as the OTP will be sent to the mobile phone number we have on file for you.
What is a One-Time Password (OTP)?
A One-Time Password is a password that is valid for only one login session or transaction, on a computer system or other digital devices. OTP is automatically generated via SMS to your mobile for authentication.
How can I update my mobile number?
Since VBV 3DS is verifying you with our records, you will have to update your mobile number with us by either contacting us at (906) 482-0404 or toll free at (866) 482-0404 or logging into your MySNB and navigating to Manage my contact information under the Customer Service tab.
How do I know if a merchant is 3D Secure compliant?
If a merchant is 3D Secure compliant, you will be able to see the Verified by Visa logo on the site.
